Sponges
Sponges
I am inspired by truth and beauty in nature. I enjoy using all types of media in my art and recently I've been experimenting with a process of using an acrylic wash on handmade paper and printing large photographic images over the block of acrylic paint. Adding details, such as the blue brush strokes in "Sponges", gives the piece interest and dimension. I am a first grade at Meadowbrook School in East Longmeadow and have been teaching first grade for over 25 years. As an artist, I am constantly inspired by my 7 year old students and their uninhibited use of line and color. So many people ask me how I have time to teach full-time, raise a family and still do art. For me, it's not even a matter of making time. I do it because it helps me relax, relieve stress, and gives me an outlet to express myself, and I'm glad that people enjoy it. I have had my work exhibited locally, such as The Burnett Gallery in Amherst, and have won awards for my art both locally and internationally. Currently, I am living in Feeding Hills with my husband, Vinnie and daughter, Nicole.
